Guys, I’m FINALLY 30!!! I know what you’re thinking “there’s no way you’re 30, you look so youthful” (J/K…kind of…please say I look youthful – lol)! I know a lot of people are less than pumped to reach this milestone, but for me, I was beyond ready. I mean come on, everyone looks better in their 30’s…am I the only one who thinks this? I mean take Justin Timberlake for example; he’s always been good looking, but goodness me, he’s really kicked it up a notch since joining the 30 club a mere 6 years ago. Or Sam Hunt, he’s looking divine at the ripe old age of 32; all I’m saying is that I hope I age like a fine wine too! Besides the dashing good looks that accompany 30, I really think this is, going to be the best decade yet, no question. I hope to get married, buy a house, have a wrap around porch, create a career from something that I genuinely love, get an alpaca, and finally travel outside of the country!
In the spirit of this major milestone, Jordan (my sweet cousin that I went to visit in Memphis a couple of months ago) came into town and put together a little something to celebrate my big 3-0!! Now I’m a relatively introverted person and the idea of a party with a number of people celebrating little ol’ me made me WILDLY uncomfortable, but it’s 30 so I had to suck it up! She created a cute but mildly embarrassing Facebook invite and let me have full reign over who was invited (I think she knew I’d back out if it got too big…I have done this before)! I went through and ended up only inviting 10-11 people, clearly I kept it small. The introvert in me immediately regretted my decision, but it was too late, everyone had RSVP’d within the hour (I was shocked)! My cousin was fully committed and decided to go all out; she purchased some fun “30” props and I knew there was no turning back!
After going over some options, we settled on going out to a local bar for dinner, games and general debauchery (as my cousin put it) followed by Karaoke. Have you guys ever gone to a Korean Karaoke bar before? If not, you should totally check it out, you wont regret it! The private rooms make everyone more comfortable and the colorful lighting creates a real disco-like experience…and who wouldn’t want that?!?! We sang all the hits; there was a riveting performance of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” (shoutout to Ameera) and an deniable rendition of “Larger than Life” by the Backstreet Boys. Other appearances included: Beyoncé, Rick Astley, N’SYNC, Destiny’s Child, Michael & Janet, Sisqó, Outkast and many others. Basically, we killed it! We rounded out my birthday with a nightcap at Waffle House; my cheese eggs and waffle were divine. I’d say all-in-all my BIG 3-0 was a raging success!
