Good morning, friends and happy Monday. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are ready to kick off a new week! Question: what is the weather like where you are? Is it starting to thaw out and warm up, or is it being wild and erratic (I’m talking to you, ATL)? Somehow our high today is only 47, yet our pollen count is through the roof (naturally); come on Mother Nature, you have to pick one; you can be cold or you can be pollinated, but you can’t be both. Am I asking too much?! Maybe, but I am seriously on the sinus struggle bus, is it just me?! Anyways, despite (still) feeling crappy, I wanted to hop on here and share some good vibes with you all! I know how crappy and hard Mondays can be; everyone is moving at snail speed, it’s cold and overcast, you forgot your breakfast at home (oh, that was just me?), you’d kill for an extra hour of sleep and you’re just feeling blah. Well guys, good news, there is PLENTY of time to turn things around; after all, it’s only 10 AM!
In the spirit of being grateful, I have listed some things to get you thinking. Do you have a job? Do you have a phone/computer to read this post on? Are you in school? Do you have a car? Are your children healthy? Does your spouse or SO love you JUST as you are? Do you have friendships that have stood the test of time (love you, MA)? Do your friends & family support your dreams? Are you breathing? If you answered YES to ANY of the questions I asked above, then I’m here to tell you that today won’t be THAT bad! While I completely understand (and agree) that some days are just plum terrible, that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to be grateful for! And just to be clear, I’m not preaching to you; I have a lot of work to do in the gratitude department myself, I’m just here to give you a quick reminder of all the things we so easily lose sight of when things aren’t going our way. There will always be trials, that’s a part of life, but there’s no reason to let a bad morning turn into a bad day. Sure, I feel like my head is being consistently run over by a train, BUT I’m still at work, wearing a cute sweater that I bought from Express and talking to all of you lovely people…see, it could be worse!
If you feel yourself slipping into a less than desirable mood, remind yourself of how awesome you are and go kick today’s butt. I know it can be hard (especially when you’d rather be in bed) but try to change your mood by lifting up someone else. Try and make someone smile, say hello to someone new in the office, compliment someone’s outfit/hair; you may surprise yourself, oftentimes seeing someone else’s happiness quickly changes my own perspective. And you know what, if you just don’t have it today, that’s okay. Try again tomorrow. We aren’t perfect, and we won’t always appear grateful, but as long as we’re trying, I think we’re gonna be okay!
And just in case you haven’t heard this today, YOU are awesome! You are kind, fearless, beautiful and perfect just the way you are! If your morning has started off on the wrong foot, I sure hope the right one finds you soon!
